Something Brand New in Every Way

There’s something sacred about sitting at a table together.
I’m not talking about a boardroom table with laptops and agendas, nor a coffee table with hurried glances at the clock.
I’m talking about the supper table.
The kind with chairs pulled close, a hot meal passed hand to hand, stories drifting between bites.
These are the tables that shape us, even when we don’t realize it.
And we believe that sharing faith, food, and friendship forms us into the kind of community God calls us to be.
Midweek Meal, midweek story
This summer, we’ve launched a new rhythm on Wednesday nights at Good Shepherd.
We’re calling it One Table, Many Stories, a weekly gathering that begins with a midweek meal at 5:15 PM, followed by a shared experience - our midweek story - at 6:30 PM.
Sometimes that story will be a hymn-sing or midweek communion. Sometimes it will be a guest speaker, or a film screening. Sometimes a service opportunity, or a game night.
But no matter the format, the heartbeat is the same: come to the table, and grow in faith together.
You might come with a full heart. Or you might come dragging a tired soul through one more week.
Maybe you’re curious.
Maybe you’re skeptical.
Maybe you’ve been coming for decades.
It doesn’t matter.
What matters is that there’s a place for you—your real self—at this table. There’s no RSVP. No expectation to perform.
Just an invitation.
Something for everyone
We’re building this ministry with more than one kind of person in mind. This isn’t just for families, or just for retirees, or just for longtime members.
It’s for the whole Body.
That’s why we’re aiming to offer multiple kinds of activities over time—so that there’s always something engaging for kids, enriching for teens, and meaningful for adults.
Eventually, we hope this ministry becomes a place where different generations sit down side-by-side and grow together.

Come to the table, stay for the story
At the center of it all is Christ, who promises to be present wherever two or three gather in His name.
In a world that fractures and isolates, we are intentionally creating a space where God’s people can connect—around conversation, around story, around shared time in the middle of the week.
These are moments of grace. And when God is present in them, they have the power to form us.
So, come. Bring a friend. Bring your children. Or just bring yourself.
If you’re running late, come anyway.
If you’re not sure what to expect, come anyway.
Every table is more blessed when you’re at it, and every story gets better when you’re part of it.
