“Lord, I believe! Help my unbelief!” - Mark 9:24
This brief response to Jesus beautifully captures the Lutheran expression of Christianity.
“Lord, I believe!”
Lutherans love to confess their faith in the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We love it so much that we include a public profession of faith in each one of our worship services, using one of the creeds that Christian churches have used throughout the centuries.
Lutherans believe in Jesus as our savior.
“Help my unbelief!”
Because the Bible teaches us that we are “saved by God’s grace”, we understand that our life on earth is plagued by all kinds of doubts, distractions, and sins. Grace isn’t grace if it’s a reward for living a perfect life.
Lutherans will always look to Jesus for forgiveness, strength, and mercy.
